Do male lionhead rabbits get along?

Monday, July 18th, 2011

I have a male lionhead rabbit that is about 5 months old and I am thinking about getting another male rather than a female so he’s not lonely. I want to know if they get along or will they fight?

Male + Male = they will fight i you have a female rabbit or have not had them neutered, induce them slowly.

Male + female =kits(babies) unless spayed/neutered.

female + female = good match.

Is it ok to keep 3 buck lionhead rabbits together?

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

They are brothers so been together since birth obviously. They are 6 weeks old now and are getting on but things may change and just want to be prepared and learn more about these rabbits.

Only if you neuter them all at 4 months of age. If not, they’ll instinctively fight over territory, whether they’re brothers or not.

A few questions about lionhead rabbits?

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Are they good for being picked up, handled, and for training? How much do they cost? Which is better, female or male? How big of a cage do they need?
Thanks!
And where to buy it from?

Rabbits in general hate being picked up and handled. You can train most rabbits. Cost depends on where you get them. At shelters and rescues they are around $25-$50 for an already fixed rabbit. Gender doesnt really matter. The absolute minimum cage size is 8 square feet. They also need at least 5 hours a day out of their cage. Its always best to adopt. You can look on petfinder.com and at shelters and rescues. Here are some great websites

Zorro & Orion’s Bunny Playtime (Adopt Us!)

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Hi, I’m Zorro, the black and white bunny, and I’m here with my brother, Orion. We are totally bonded to each other so I’m really hoping that we can find a new home for both of us. We are both purebred lionhead rabbits and are only several months old. We sleep side-by-side snuggling close and we groom each other. It’s really quite cute to watch, according to the volunteers. We play together, too.

Our dream would be to find a loving home that would give both of us a safe, warm place where we could lounge and relax and just enjoy life. We are easy to pick up and love so I think we’d make a nice family really happy. Currently, we’re spending our time at the San Jose Animal Care Center (http://www.sanjoseanimals.org/).

Is it normal for a neutered lionhead rabbit to keep mounting other rabbits?

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

Hes been altered for about three weeks now. I finally just let the mom see him for the first time in awhile. They started mounting and i put them back in their seperate cages. What do i do?

I have a neutered Netherland Dwarf and a unaltered English spot female.

At first I was as lost as you because they mounted when introduced for bonding, but it eventually became less frequent. Now it’s very rare for him to attempt to mount her and interestingly enough she tries to mount him more often than he tries to mount her….And she’s female, no doubts haha!

How big do Lionhead rabbits get?

Friday, March 25th, 2011

I have a lovely baby lionhead rabbit and would like to know how big he will get. He is a house rabbit, he lives in a big cage during the day and runs around the living room in the evening. I’m hoping he won’t get to big for his cage.

I have lionheads and they both weigh about 6lbs. They are fully grown now and are about the same size as a small cat. Except Elvis is a bit chubby.
