My daughter was given a lion-head rabbit on November 15, 2009. One week later we put her in the cage with our other (supposedly) female rabbit. This morning I went out and found 4 mutilated newborn rabbits. I’ve done some research (because I’m no expert when it comes to rabbits) and everything says that the gestation period is, on average, 31 days. With that being said, my guess is that the other rabbit is male, because the timing makes sense. But, again, I was guaranteed today that the original rabbit is female and registered (although I don’t have the papers). We received both rabbits from a friend, not a breeder. All I know is that we’ve had her 41 days…so I don’t see how it’s possible she got pregnant before coming here. All input is very much appreciated…I am a newbie at this. Please be kind, I’m doing my best to take care of these rabbits, since they were both a gift to my 10 year old daughter.
one of your rabbits is a male and he got the doe pregnant about 28-32 days ago, not 41 days ago, that’s impossible. he must have gotten her pregnant shortly after you put the one in the cage with the other. if you know which one gave birth to the kits, then you know which one is the buck and which one is the doe. if you don’t know, you can flip one over and "look up its skirt" by basically putting your index finger above the urethra and your thumb below the anus and spread your fingers apart. males will not only have testicles that you should see without doing this but a hooked penis will come out. females will have a slit, its kind of gross but its necessary. its very easy to tell the sex on older rabbits, but its really hard to tell with kits because they are so small. separate the rabbits, or get the male neutered. hope this helps :]

I have a lionhead rabbit that is 4months old. I have just gone to see her to feed her etc and she cannot move her back legs at all. She is dragging them behind her. Also when i picked her up her legs are just limp. She doesnt seem to be in any pain & she is still eating & drinking and getting around best she can. The vets are closed now but will be taking her first thing in the morning, what do you think they will say, will she have to be put down? Ant advice/info would be really appreciated. xx
I mean any advice, not ant advice lol
I found these on wiki answers:
It means that one of these could be why your bunny is dragging her legs
1. Rabbit has suffered a stroke, usually due to high stress
2. Spinal or bone damage usually due to poor handling or attacked or chased by other animals
3. Encephalitozoon Cuniculi which is a parasite which spreads through the blood stream and can affect brain function and cause paralysis
If your rabbit is eating and drinking then it should be fine for tonight but obviously go to a good vet as soon as possible tomorow and get them to check it out and treat it.
It might have to be put down if the rabbit really is in pain. The rabbit should be fine, and they could give it a wheel chair which will let the rabbit move around without getting hurt.
Look at this youtube vid and see if your rabbit looks like this:

Hope it gets better!

I’m getting a Smoke Pearl Lionhead doe born on Thanksgiving 2009 and I’m going to the Lebanon show on Feb 6-7 show,so I want to know if she can be shown.I’d like the answers to be logical.
Hello,
You can show a rabbit at "almost" any age. If you want to win you want a rabbit close to six months/ in the junior class. Or about 8 months in the senior class(or up to about 3 years). If it was born in Nov. and the Show is in Feb. It’ll be about three months, you can show it, but probably won’t win. The show experiance would be good for you and the rabbit though. I say go for it.
Hope this Helps!

This is Tifa my first lionhead rabbit. In this video she is about 10 months. She would yawn alot and it looks funny to see a rabbit do that. It starts off like a stretch then she roars…well not really.

but i don’t know what the other part is and i really want to know so i know how much i can sell then for if i ever have to. i know there not pure bred lion head rabbits.
one is black with white and the other 2 are white with black. the 2 have like a black line going from there tail up to the middle of there back.they’ve got lion head tuffs and sometimes one of there ears will flop. they are also fuzzy, and poop alot!
They are called Lionlops.A lionhead/Holland Lop hybrid. And those are normally $45 each from breeders, but if you want them to sell maybe you should price them at $20 each, but that’s my opinion a rabbit breeder and exihibitor.

I live in south east england….
I have two lionhead rabbits both in separate cage as one rabbit has a litter (we thought they were two boys until one day we found a litter of 4 but that’s a different story!)
Anyway both cages have waterproof stuff around them and under the waterproof things and quilts, sleeping bags, sheets…. so anyway there fine in the night but when its not raining i put my male out in the run but sometimes i thinks its to cold…. its about 7 degrees sometimes…? is that to cold?
whats the lowest degree he can stand?
I know they have fur coats and that keeps them warm and blah blah but is it to cold and whats the lowest degree lionhead rabbits can stand?
thanks so much
xxxx
PLEASE HELP…. still looking for answers despreately
My rabbits live outside in the summer and inside in the winter because it snows so much here.
You should move the cages into your garage, laundryroom, tool shed, kitchen, basement, etc. if you can’t take them into the main parts of your house.
If you absolutely can’t bring them inside, be sure to put a float of some kind in their water bottles so they don’t freeze. Feed them more pellets in the winter so they get a little fatter. Don’t put put towels in the cages because they will freeze. Give them straw to snuggle in instead. Be sure they also have nesting boxes to be secure/warm in.
Hope this helps
