I think I am allergic to my Lion Head rabbit. What do I do?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I have had my two bunnies for about a month now. I got them when they were super little and now they are getting bigger and growing their fur. One of my rabbits is a Lion Head and has long hair. I notice that when I sit and play with her, my eyes start to itch really bad..its mostly my right eye. If I play with my other one who has shorter fur I am fine.

Am I allergic to my Lion Head? What do I do?? I don’t want to get rid of her she is still super little and my baby now.

Does anyone have any ideas? It just seems to be her and only my eyes itch nothing else. She is in my room as well but that doesn’t bother me, only when I play with her.

There are a lot of things you can do. Here are a couple of sites that will help you.

my lionhead rabbits ears are alot larger than 3 inches (the normal size) will his ears lop?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

he’s 9 weeks old still quite light in weight and has quite long fur

Lionheads ears vary in size. Some can be short and some can be long. If they look long very long there is a chance they could lop.

He won’t be a Lionhead if they do lop, he’ll be a Lionlop rabbit ;)

They may take time to lop, my recent rabbits’ ears lopped at 6 months old!

Can my full grown lion-head rabbit (male) mate with my new Foundland dwarf long-haired rabbit?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

How old does my dwarf rabbit have to be?? and i just won the dwarf at a fair last night. How can I tell how old it is??? My lionhead knows exactly what he wants to do with my dwarf btw.

Have you bred before? If not, it is a dangerous thing to do if you have no experience. You could land with 3 things. 2 dead rabbits, 2 dead rabbits plus its dead babies, or 2 adult unhealthy rabbits with no babies if you have no experience. There is no rabbit breed called a "new found land dwarf". Maybe you are referring to a Neverland Dwarf? You should wait for another 4 months to breed your dwarf with the lion head. But lionheads tend to get aggressive when they are mating with other rabbits. I would advise not too. Plus mixing breeds isn’t a good choice. If you STILL want to breed your rabbits please e-mail me. I can give you lots of information.

where can i buy lionhead rabbits in michigan?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

and how much will they cost? i used to get them from my friends but they moved away, and the one i had for five years recently died. and i would love to have another one.

Heres a few options of places that you can buy a lionhead rabbit

1. You can buy them at a pet store they do charge 50 dollars or more for them but its not strongly recommend because they cant determine the sex of the rabbit and the age also

2. Breeders do sell them they may charge 50 to 100 dollars for them

3. The Michigan Humane Society and small animal shelters do have so many rabbits that need to be adopted because people did surrender them or did find them at places like the park and etc that people did abandon them and they have been examined and treated if they are sick and might be nueutered also and the adoption fees do vary in prices

You can also check out Petfinder they have a list of adoptions

I just got a lion head rabbit and I was wandering if you had one how much did you pay? ?

Also what are some things that I can put in the cage to help it get some exercise in? What are some toys that she might like? She is about a year old or so and is double maned. I gave $20 for her was that to much? O I live in Fl if that helps.
Thanks!

I paid $0 for mine because he was with his owner outside the shelter and he gave him to me. But if he would have taken him in I would have had to pay $60

Cardboard boxes are a rabbits favorite thing lol they can hide in them dig in them run through them chew them and just hand out on top of them.

Baby key rings are a hit around here mine likes to throw them around or put them in his water bowl.

Not all rabbits like them but mine likes a cat tunnel he does bunny 500’s through that thing.

Willow wreaths are always good

Apple tree sticks

A plastic slinky attached to the side of the cage

Their own blanket to burrow and dig in

can u set free an 8 month old lion head rabbit into an outdoor enviorment with other rabbits ?

the rabbit is a house rabbit and its about 30 degrees . he likes to drink water wut if it dont rain? will he survive ?

Poor little thing wouldn’t last long in the wild. He’s used to being fed and having fresh water put in front of him. And he wouldn’t be free long before an animal would kill him. Find someone to take him and give him a new home. It would be so unfair to him to just turn him loose outside.
